Qayyum adds almost 10 years of experience of planning, developing and managing early and growth-stage businesses as well as investment structuring, value engineering and financial modelling to Bahtera Perkasa’s overall management experience as Investment Director, heading its Investment Structuring and Private Clients’ General Services functions. He has previously served in property development and real-estate sector, focusing on company turnarounds as Chief Executive Officer of MIG Group Sdn Bhd in 2018 and Temasya Bina Sdn Bhd in 2022. He also co-founded Trainsition Sdn Bhd, a tech and soft-skill training company serving government-led projects and served as its Managing Director since 2016 and is its Executive Director since 2018. He also served as Managing Director of Retinue Consulting Sdn Bhd in 2018 and Finance Director of Papa Brands Sdn Bhd and Papa Foods Sdn Bhd, a local importer and wholesaler of frozen and fresh food product prior to joining Bahtera as its Finance Analyst in 2024.

Qayyum started his career in finance as an investment banker with CIMB Investment Bank as an intern with Islamic Banking division before taking various other roles as Credit Analyst and Corporate Finance with banking experience in Malaysia and Indonesia, before his last position as Special Officer to Group CEO. He is a staunch believer and advocate in local talent development and with his training company, as well as on a personal level, continues to foster future talents’ development through career-related discourses. Qayyum holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Oxford Brookes University and was a Securities Commission of Malaysia Scholar.
